Dear Luis,

November 15, 2018 is National Philanthropy Day, an occasion for thousands of people around the world to recognize and celebrate the giving, volunteering, and charitable engagement that help to make our world a better place.  The Silicon Valley Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals will mark the occasion this Friday, when 600 people gather to honor outstanding donors and volunteers in our community during the 30st annual Philanthropy Day Luncheon.

Friends and staff of El Camino Hospital Foundation will be there to salute Santa Clara Sporting Club, our distinguished volunteer fundraiser honoree. Every October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the club's young soccer players put on a fundraiser called "Goals for a Cure" and compete in pink jerseys. The $320,237.45 the club has contributed over the past decade enables El Camino Hospital to provide breast screenings and followup diagnostic tests to uninsured and under-insured women.

Santa Clara Sporting Club is just one of El Camino Hospital Foundation’s many extraordinary donors and volunteers who contribute to the areas they are most profoundly drawn to support:  particular programs like the Free Mammogram Program, South Asian Heart Center, Cancer Center, Mental Health and Addiction Services;  legacy gifts that secure El Camino Hospital’s future; the El Camino Fund for allocation where the need is greatest; the Employee Giving Campaign.  On this National Philanthropy Day, which celebrates generosity and good will in action, we celebrate you, our donors and supporters, for finding joy in philanthropy and satisfaction from investing in better, bolder health care for our community.

Sincerely,

  Jodi Barnard
