Santa Clara Sporting and Matteo Studios are once again doing it’s part to kick breast cancer in the butt with our 2nd Annual Goals for a Cure Campaign during the month of October.  Matteo Studios donated the printing of jerseys and t-shirts, numbers for the uniforms and lots of labor and love. Sporting donated star-up money to buy all the uniforms, rallied all the teams and hours of volunteer time. Last year our club raised $26, 537 and donated all the funds to the El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California.  El Camino Hospital used the funds to provide early breast screen exams to women who need financial support.

Last year Matteo Studios and Santa Clara Sporting came-up with the Goals-for-a-Cure idea when the Santa Clara Sporting '93 Boys Team was hit hard by breast cancer.  The team lost one mother and a second was fortunate to survive the disease.  After the experience, the kids wanted to do someting about it, and Goals-for-a-Cure was born.

Most fund-raising efforts are directed to raise research funds, and the team found-out that early detection through mamograms is a key source of prevention. So our fund raising efforts are used to support women who need exams but may need financial assistance.

Every woman should get an annual mamogram exam because early detection and treatment is critically important to fight this killer disease. Let’s all work together to get the word out! Tell your Mom, tell your sister, tell your grandmother to get checked!

All Santa Clara Sporting Teams will compete in their pink Goals-for-a-Cure jerseys during the month of October to raise awareness and donations. Teams raise money through a Goal-a-thon (donations for every goal score), or through flat donations.
