The Santa Clara Sporting club set a new record with 8 teams winning the 2013 Cal-North State Cup Championship this year. No club has ever won that many State Cup titles in one year. All eight teams quaify to compete in the 2013 Far West Regional Tournament held June 17-23 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Santa Clara Sporting 95boys Green Team wrote themselves into the club’s history book winning their 5th consecutive State Cup Championship. The team has one more year to compete before they age-out and could possibly win 6 titles!

Gabe helped recruit over 55 student-athletes to DI-DIII collegiate programs during the past three years while he managed the: Santa Clara Sporting 94 boys team, the MVLA Avalanche 93 team, and consulted the Santa Clara Sporting 93G team throughout the recruitment process. ]]> http://www.santaclarasporting.com/home/717980.html Stand-up for Mariah and Support her Family 04/22/2013 04:36 PM http://www.santaclarasporting.com/home/712922.html On March 23rd, 2013, the Central Valley Magic U12 Girl’s competitive team received word that their goalkeeper for the past 5 seasons, Maria Serratos, had been hospitalized and would not be playing in their game that day. Mariah was admitted to Valley Medical Center due to numbness and lack of strength in her legs. The following day she was transported to Stanford Children’s Hospital to run more tests as Valley Medical Center could not pinpoint the exact diagnosis but it appeared to be very serious. It didn’t take long and it turned out to be the worst case scenario.

Mariah and her parents were informed that Mariah had suffered a spinal stroke and the stroke had left permanent damage, meaning she would be paralyzed for life. Mariah will never play soccer again, let alone stand up and go for a walk. Mariah is a great student and wants to be the first in her family to attend college and graduate with a degree. Mariah’s very tragic situation and her strength, love and commitment to the game of soccer is inspiring and that is why CVYSL is asking for your help.

Unfortunately, Mariah’s parents are not in a financial position to provide the necessary amenities that Mariah will need once she is released from the hospital. She is expected to be released in the next two weeks. It would be great if we can get together and provide Mariah and her family with the necessary amenities so that her family can focus on Mariah’s emotional and physical needs than to stress over things that we in our community can help with.

Mariah will require a wheelchair to get around in, not to mention that her family will also need a proper vehicle to transport her to school, doctor appointments, etc. The house they live in will require some extensive retro-fitting so Mariah can get around in her wheelchair. Plus the increasing medical bills. Needless to say this young girl and her family needs our help!

Dave Bilbo, a parent from the Central Valley Magic team, has partnered with Foundation 47* to help fundraise on Mariah and her family’s behalf.The initial fundraiser is in the form of a t-shirt commemorating Mariah’s love for the game of soccer.

The Santa Clara Sporting Men's Team won the 2013 Peninsula League Ambrozino Cup with a 2-0 victory over the Gordon Bierch Team. The team also won the Peninsula League Major Division two weeks ago and are now back-to-back champions. Congratulations to the team and Coach Luis Azevedo.

The Santa Clara Sporting 94b Team are excited to announce the successful recruitment of 18 student athletes who were recruited to play collegiate soccer begining in the Fall of 2013. The team started-out back in 2005 as a Class 3 team, and rose through the ranks of the toughest competition in Northern California, and are now Ranked #11 in the US by GotSoccer.com.

"It has been a long road to reach this big milestone," said Gabe Foo, team manager. The team has been competing in one of the most talented and competitve age groups in the country, and this forced the team to develop really talented soccer players. In addition to soccer talent, players need academic results to get recruited into college, so the boys have to be just as committed to building academic succes off the field.

Mike Graczyk, the teams’ head coach added, "all our players are attending college, and some received entrance into prestigous programs and chosen to focus on academics after they finish playing at Sporting this Spring. Some of the guys are academic studs and it makes sense for them to prioritize academic choices over soccer choices. We want to thank Santa Clara Sporting for the incredible support to help our players achieve their dreams to play soccer in college."

Mike Graczyk, an Assistant Coach at Stanford is the teams’s head coach and another key component to the recruitment success. Mike competed at the University of New Mexico where he led the Lobos to a Final 4 in the NCAA Tournament. He was later drafted to the Colorado Rapids and played at the San Jose Earthquakes. Mike has been coaching collegiate soccer at Harvard and Stanford.

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, April 22, 2013) – Chivas USA announced today that forward Julio Morales has been selected to participate in Mexico’s Under-20 National Team training camp from April 22-29. Morales will report to the week-long camp immediately, which includes two scrimmages programmed for April 26 and 28, ahead of the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which takes place June 21-July 13 in Turkey.

Morales joined Chivas USA in February on loan from Chivas Guadalajara. The 19-year-old Mexican-American was born in Glendale, Calif. but grew up in Northern California in the city of San Jose. The left-footed striker made his professional debut as a starter in the season opener in March and has made three starts for the Red-and-White, logging 180 minutes. While in San Jose, Morales played club soccer for Sporting Santa Clara where he attracted attention from NCAA teams as well as professional clubs in Mexico, before ultimately joining the youth setup at Chivas Guadalajara.

Congratulations to the new Santa Clara Sporting '04B Team (U8) for winning the Ajax United Spring Soccer Tournament on March 10th in Ripon. The team started the tournament with a 9-1 win over the Ajax United '05B host team, then crushed the Mt. Hamnilton FC Outlaws 10-1. Sporting finished their dominating performance with a 3-0 victory over the Palo Alto Blue 05 team.  The boys scored an amazing 22 goals in just three games. Congratulations to the players and coaches.

The Santa Clara Sporting 95 Boys Green Team had a fantastic run at the 2013 Dallas Cup Tournament last month and finished the prestigous tournament as Finalists in the U17 age group . The Sporting 95s were seeded into the "bracket of death" with the Tigres Pro Academy Team from Mexico, the powerhouse FC Dallas Premier Academy team (Ranked #1 in Texas and #3 in Region III), and  Grand FC Mustangs Premier Academy from Illinois. Santa Clara opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over the Mustangs, then beat FC Dallas Premier 1-0 in front of a very loud cheering fan base out to see their hometown FC Dallas team battle Sporting. A tie or a win with the #1 tournament seed Tigres from Mexico would send Sporting through bracket play, and the boys came-up with a 1-1 draw in one of the best games of the tournament.

 

Sporting beat Penn Fusion (#2 in Pennsylvania) 1-0 in the Quarter-finals, then dominated FRAM (#3 in Cal-South) in a shocking 5-1 blow-out, although the game was much tighter than the scoreboard result. The team had momentum going into the U17 Championship match vs. the Aalborg BK Pro Academy Team from Denmark.

Aalborg BK had two National Team players on their U17 squad and won the Final 4-1, but not before Santa Clara gave them a battle to draw 1-1 at halftime.  "I am very proud of my boys for fighting so hard in the Finals against a great European team. We learned a lot playing at this level and the entire team contributed to our great run at Dallas Cup," said Demtri Cacoyannis, the teams’ head coach.

 

Next-up for the team is another historic run as they attempt to win their 5th consecutive Cal-North State Cup title. They won the 2012 Far West Regional League and already qualify to compete in the Far West Regional Tournament held in June in Hawaii.

Unlike other "academy clubs," Santa Clara Sporting is dedicated to helping youth soccer players from all economic backgrounds. Elite youth soccer has become an issue of "access" where elite level soccer particiation is becoming dictated by the financial affordablity by families. At Santa Clara Sporting, we pride ourselves in creating an opportunity for kids to play at the highest level regardless of family economics. We continuously work hard to make the soccer accessable to those dedicated to improving their soccer game and academics.

Championship Caliber Coaches! We have an outstanding coaching staff that has captured National, Regional and State championship titles every year. We are proud and fortunate to have such a qualified and dedicated group of men and women guiding our youth players.

We have that Championship Feeling. Play soccer with a club that has an appetite for success and knows how to push players to acheive their personal best. Just look at the domination at the 2008 Cal-North State Cup when Santa Clara Sporting had a team in every championship boys age group from U15-U19. The club brought home 6 Championship cups and 4 Finalists cups that year.

Our Soccer Philosophy. We’re poud that we succeed at playing soccer the right way, with an emphasis on player skills and a strong focus on teamwork. These primary attributes are optimized in our integrated player development training curriculum.

College Placement. Santa Clara Sporting is committed to developing great soccer players and helping place student athletes in collegiate soccer programs. Players have gone forward to attend school at: Santa Clara University, Stanford, UC Davis, UC San Diego, Oregon State, UNLV, St. Mary’s College, Yale, Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo, San Jose State and more. The followng college coaches are involved coaching teams at Sporting: Cam Rast - Santa Clara Mens head coach, Mike Graczyk - Stanford Mens Assistant Coach, Chris Behler - San Jose State Womens Assistant Coach.

Player Development. Soccer Development is key to our success and when combined with strong academics will open many doors for youth soccer players and their family. Our club is affiliated with the West Ham United Professional English Premier Team and other professional clubs arounfd the world. Sebastian Lletget and Julio Morales are two recent players developed at Santa Clara Sporting into professional soccer players.

Community Support. A prime example of our commnity commitment is our annual "Goals for a Cure" programheld every October. Santa Clara Sporting has raised more than $124,000 since 2008. We also reach out to programs like the Second Harvest Food Bank and Toys for Tots every season.

Elite Competition. At Santa Clara Sporting, you’ll get the opportunity to play against the best, compete yourself against the most skilled players for your age group / class level, and an optimum chance to test your ability as a player. Most find this a rewarding experience that further enhances their ability and aides their overall development.

Exposure. You’ll get noticed at Santa Clara Sporting. We have numerous players involved with Professional Teams, the US National Teams and Olympic Development Teams at different levels. Our teams compete in College Showcase tournaments providing opportunity for all players to be seen.
