2008 Goals-for-a-Cure Inagural Year

The Santa Clara Sporting Club launched Goals-for-a-Cure during the month of October 2008 to raise awareness and money to fight breast cancer. All 25 Santa Clara Sporting Teams participated in a Goal-A-Thon Fundraiser during the month of October, and the club raised $26,537 for the cause. The funds raised were used to support women who need financial assistance to get a breast screen exam at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View. KGO-TV Channel 7 News covered the El Camino Hospital Mammogram Marathon event and the Goals-for-a-Cure fundraiser effort by Santa Clara Sporting.

The Santa Clara Sporting Club donated $20,000 tonight to the El Camino Hospital Foundation to provide free mammograms to women who need financial support to receive breast screening exams. Lindsay Greensweig, Interim President of the El Camino Hospital Foundation attended the event to receive the check from Santa Clara Sporting.

The Santa Clara Sporting Club is proud to announce that the club raised $20,000 last October during their 2009 Goals-for-a-Cure Campaign. Special recognition goes out to the Santa Clara Sporting ’93 Girls White Team led by Jim Goularte and Cynthia Bates-Brown which raised $3,516 to fight breast cancer.

On October 22nd, the Sporting White 97 U12 girl’s team held their first “Juggle-A-Thon."  Each girl recorded their personal juggling goal that they wanted to attain.  Friends, neighbors, and family members sponsored each girl with a price per juggle or a flat rate.

It is a joy to see a community pull together to support such a wonderful cause. Twelve years ago this month I was given six months to live. With a 6 month old baby, 2 year old and 4 year old it was a devastating diagnosis. After many procedures including two stem cell transplants, I am a testament to the fact that every little bit helps,

The Santa Clara Sporting Club completed their month-long efforts to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer with their annual Goals for a Cure campaign.  The club celebrated the conclusion of the event with our annual Coaches Game

The SC Sporting ’00Boys Green and White Teams participated in a friendly scrimmage game during halftime at the October 3rd Santa Clara Broncos Mens Soccer Game. Thanks to all the players and families for support Goals for a Cure and Sporting

The Santa Clara Sporting 99B White Team are scheduled to play during half-time at the Santa Clara University Broncos game vs. St. Mary’s College at 7:30pm on Friday, October 23rd. The team will help promote Santa Clara Sporting and Goals for a Cure
