College Soccer Recruiting Guidlines

The following information is a guideline meant to educate players and parents about the levels of college soccer in the US. There are essentially, three divisions of soccer available to players who are interested in pursing a soccer experience in college.  The "right fit" for a student-athlete has to be determined by each player, and their family, and careful consideration should be made to realistically balance the level of soccer competition and academics.  Both require a full commitment by a student athlete.

Division I Soccer |Players usually have the following experience:

ODP Experience:
National Team/Pool
Regional Team/Pool
State Team  (not Pool)
Adidas ESP Camp

Club Experience:
Class 1 Div 1 Club Experience

Attend Major Tournaments:
Surf Cup
Disney Showcase
Las Vegas Showcase
Pleasanton Rage Showcase (girls only)
NHB Showcase
Texas Shootout
PDA Showcase

High School Experience: 
All-American
Varsity starter (probably made team as Freshman or Sophmore)
All-State
All Region/Conference/Sectional

Division II Soccer |Players usually have the following experience:

ODP Experience:
State Team
District ODP Team

Club Experience:
Class 1 Div 1 Club Experience

Attend Some of these Major Tournaments:
Surf Cup
Disney Showcase
Las Vegas Showcase
Pleasanton Rage Showcase (girls only)
NHB Showcase
Texas Shootout
PDA Showcase

High School Experience: 
Varsity Team
JV Team

Division III/NIAA Soccer |Players usually have the following experience:

ODP Experience:
State Team Pool
District ODP Team

Club Experience:
Class 1 Div 2 Club Experience

Attend a few tournaments:
Pleasanton Rage Showcase (girls only)
NHB Showcase
Texas Shootout


High School Experience:
Varsity Team
JV Team
